If you have ever watched an HGTV show and wondered how the landscapers decide on a garden design, the New Garden Designer’s Handbook provides the answer.
In the book, design of a complete back or front yard is discussed. Landform, structures and plants are the elements described throughout the book. Beginning with surveying what is existing, the book moves you step-by-step through the design process.
The New Garden Designer’s Handbook does seem focused more on the professional designer rather than a home DIYer. While function, like edible gardens, are discussed, aesthetically pleasing gardens are the main focus. There are also no ideas to limit cost or address space constraints. I think that limits the audience for this book. However, it is still fun to dream what your ideal garden would look like. 4 stars.
