Your Pasta Sucks contains multitudes. It is a very funny memoir from a self-proclaimed Italian, Irish, Mexican homosexual. It also has family recipes that have a lot of ingredients and mostly take a while to cook. Photos are rather hit and miss. Nutritional information is non-existent.
Admittedly, I wouldn’t recommend this as a cookbook. The author has a YouTube channel focusing on comedy and cooking. However, there have been no new cooking videos posted in the last two years. I have to assume that he agrees with me that humor, not cooking, is his strong suit.
The humor, however, is spot on. It seems to be based on his loud, and blunt, family and lifestyle. A Mexican grandfather who had a second family, who named the kids in both family the same names so he would never mix them up. The Mexican TV show host who admired his grandfather’s ingenuity years later. It is laugh out loud funny more so because it has the ring of truth.
If you are looking for an escape from all the doomscrolling, read Your Pasta Sucks and immerse yourself in someone else’s humorous life for a while. 5 stars!
