In Whose Body in the Library, Nichelle is the new librarian at the lighthouse library on the shores of the Outer Banks. This is her first job after graduating with a library science degree after a late career change. On the morning of her first day, she finds a body on the library steps. The victim’s face looks familiar. Could it be her long lost father?
This book is a transition in this long running series between the former protagonist, Lucy, to new librarian, Nichelle.
Lucy is now married and mother to twin sons. While she helps Nichelle investigate the crime, Nichelle is the new main character. While this is an innovative way to continue the series, I still miss Lucy. It may take me a few books to like Nichelle quite as much. However, the mystery is still intriguing and the scenery is as beautiful as ever.
Whose Body in the Library is unusual in that it might be better to read it without reading the previous books in the series first. 3 stars.
