In The Boyfriend, Gina and Chloe are two teenage identical twins who could not be less alike. Gina is the popular girl. Chloe has a nerdy vibe. When their family drags them to Florida on vacation, Gina quickly finds some trendy friends who she joins on their boat. Chloe meanwhile fabricates an AI boyfriend and gets a tree spirit stalker. Things just get weirder and more murderous from there.
The Boyfriend is an enjoyable quick read even though the plot isn’t very original. Plus the ending seemed rushed as if to meet a particular page count. 3 stars.
