Abyss has a ripped from the headlines plot…but which headline?
Joe is grateful that he has a new job at Ponos. But when he arrives, the entire building is surprisingly empty. The tasks he is asked to complete seem meaningless. His new boss is evasive. And the wellness bot keeping track of him seems oddly intrusive. What is really going on at Ponos?
A feeling of dread suffuses Abyss. However, the conclusion seems rushed and wasn’t foreshadowed enough. The plot is very reminiscent of a popular Apple TV show, at least initially, too. Overall, the book is flawed but still an interesting read. 3 stars.
Thanks to NetGalley and Tor Nightfire for providing me with an advanced review copy.
