Secret Sauce

Secret Sauce

Who doesn’t love a fast food or restaurant’s special sauce? Secret Sauce contains a huge collection of copycat recipes from McDonald’s Big Mac to Olive Garden’s Alfredo and marinara sauces. The recipes are easy enough for anyone to follow. The ingredients can be found in most grocery stories. I made two of the recipes and they did taste similar to the original food items.

The book sorts the recipes by type. All of the salsas are together. All the salad dressings are together in a different chapter. This makes it easy to verify which recipes can be created using your pantry items. There are also two indexes: one by restaurant name and the other by food type (yes, similar to the table of contents). There are only a few photos scattered about. There is also no nutritional information or allergen warnings. Because of this omission, I am dropping their rating down to 4 stars. Still, if you, like me, are trying to cook at home more, Secret Sauce is a great weapon to keep in your arsenal.

Thanks to NetGalley and Adams Media for providing me with an advanced review copy.
