Great Practical Solutions for Fixing Dysfunctional Relationships.
A practical guide on how to deal with relationship issues with children through improving communication. This book offers concrete answers including how to respond to petulant or uncommunicative teenagers. The author suggests a balance between the business (teaching and disciplinary) and personal (fun and friendly) side in parental relationships to avoid power struggles. The book includes specific phrases and example dialogs for many common childhood issues like depression, lying, blaming others, irresponsibility, chore avoidance, peer pressure leading to poor decisions, violence, drug use and the attraction to gangs.
I wouldn’t limit these techniques to parents as I successfully used the “won’t listen to reason” script on my boss recently. Great ideas on how to turn any dysfunctional relationship around by changing how you respond to it.
I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway but that has not impacted my review.
