Who wants Poop for Breakfast? A surprisingly large collection of animals, birds and insects. Luckily (or maybe hopefully), humans don’t eat poop. This picture book explains the reasons why some species do, and some don’t, enjoy the culinary delights of poo.
While marketed for children, I found some fascinating tidbits here too. For example, the white part of the bird poop is actually urine. Just the black part is poo. Also, birds have just one exit hole where urine, poo, and eggs(soon to be babies) come out. As a former rabbit owner, it surprised me to discover what rabbits eat for a midnight snack and why. The illustrations are pretty, colorful and help to explain the digestive tracts of different species.
Poop for Breakfast is the perfect gift for a curious elementary school age child. However, the giver might want to sneak a peek too. The natural world is such an interesting place. 4 stars!
Thanks to Millbrook Press and NetGalley for a digital review copy of the book.
