Hide: The Graphic Novel

Hide: The Graphic Novel

“Fourteen competitors. Seven Days. A thirty-minute hiding window given at the dawn of each day. Gameplay continues until dusk…” So, begins Hide: The Graphic Novel, which is set in an abandoned amusement park in a cellphone free zone. One winner gets $50,000…but what happens to the losers?

A gripping plot reminiscent of Squid Game and Hunger Games is slowed by too many characters especially for a graphic novel. Worst of all is the ending. It’s so sad when something with great promise lets you down. Despite being a horror and thriller genre mashup, I’m not sure if fans of either genre will be satisfied with Hide: The Graphic Novel. 3 stars.

Thanks to Ten Speed Press and NetGalley for a digital review copy of the book.
