The setting of Daisy Darker setting is pure Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. A family is celebrating their matriarch’s birthday on a remote island. There is no way to return to the mainland, or even contact the police, when someone is murdered. The guests must race to find the killer before they all face the same fate.
The 1940s movie adaptation of And Then There Were None is my favorite Agatha Christie film. So, I had high expectations for this book. Was I justified in my feelings? Yes, Daisy Darker is terrific! This author is famous for her twisty plots but surpasses herself with this tale. The conclusion is really clever, and I never saw it coming. Every Christie fan should see how this book updates her meticulous plotting while incorporating modern themes. 5 stars!
