Small town Texas beauty pageants. Can anything be more dramatic? Or fun? Well, fun for most—not so much for the dead bodies piling up. During this one, murders occur and blackouts happen. Mysteries and rivalries thought long dead arise. It is just another day in Texas with its Pretty Dead Things.
I liked this mystery once I got through its rather slow first half. There are multiple narrators, who all have intense backstories to remember. There are actually two mysteries to solve: a twenty year old missing person case and the current murders marring the pageant. Can you do it?
The mystery was challenging and the twists were great fun in Pretty Dead Things. The outrageous drama of a Texas beauty pageant was a great setting. Overall, I would recommend this book for both mystery fans and fans of the Real Housewives over-the-top drama. 4 stars!
