I just have to say I adore Mad Mabel, both the book and the character. The plot has multiple twists. One I saw coming, so I felt superior for a minute. Quickly followed by three or four totally surprising ones that took my confidence down a few pegs. Bravo! Armchair detectives be warned, this plot is tricky. Are you up for the challenge?
Mad Mabel is the childhood nickname of an eighty-one year old woman. When her disturbing history is brought forward by a nosy neighbor, a documentary duo begin recording her incredibly compelling story.
I cannot overstate my recommendation to read Mad Mabel. The less you know of the plot going in, the better. Even though it is only April as I write this review, this book is sure to be on the top of my favorite books of 2026. Don’t miss it! 5 stars and a favorite.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing me with an advanced review copy.
