Come Undone

Come Undone

Is your favorite show Bling Empire on Netflix? Did you watch every episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians the minute it aired? How about Hulu’s The Kardashians show? If so, you will enjoy the insufferable human beings that populate Come Undone.

I enjoyed reading the author’s previous book, Fresh Off the Boat, and watching the sitcom based on it. It gently made fun of stereotypes about Asian immigrants to the United States.

Come Undone, on the other hand, tells the darker underlying tale of how culture can be toxic. That is the story I wanted to read. However, to get there I was forced to read about really obnoxious people who are obsessed with showing others how rich they are by their clothing choices. So—much—designer—clothes—talk.

It was a slog for me to get through this book. But I don’t enjoy shows about the facades people hide behind. If you do, you may like Come Undone. For me, it was a 3 star read.

Thanks to NetGalley and One World for providing me with an advanced review copy.
