The Survivor

The Survivor

A man with a horrific past is caught in an untenable position on a subway train racing underneath New York City in The Survivor.

Ben just wants to forget being let go from his recent job on his first day after orientation. He boards the subway planning his next steps. A text arrives telling him that someone will die unless he can keep one person on the subway train. Ben fails. A explosion is heard at the station as the train continues on its route.

Ben quickly realizes that choosing him is not random. The next text calls him by his former name, Adam. And Adam has a tragic secret that Ben thought he had successfully hidden for fifteen years. Guess not. Now, how many more people have to die? Will Ben be among them?

The Survivor clearly mimics the setting and basic situation of the second season of Hijack on streaming. However, in this plot, Ben is clueless about how to stop the killing. In fact, just being reminded of his past life as Adam has sent the voice in Ben’s head into overdrive plotting violent solutions to his dilemma.

The Survivor is a high speed dive into mental illness while also a compelling page-turning thriller. The suspense doesn’t let up in this highly recommended novel. 5 stars!
