With a title like 50 True Stories That Will Scare You to Death, I expect three things to be true.
Are there 50 stories? Yes. There are five categories: The Dead, The Gone, The Invaders, The Hunted, and The Unexplained. The Dead filled with spooks has 15 stories. The Unexplained is a miscellaneous category that has five. The other sections contain ten stories each with tales of missing persons, aliens, and murderous cold cases respectively.
Are they true? Purportedly.
Most important are they scary? This, unfortunately, is where these tales fail to shine. I didn’t get one shiver while reading them even in the dead of night. Most didn’t have a real conclusion either. They just petered out. For this reason, I have to give 50 True Stories That Will Scare You to Death 3 stars. Entertaining? Yes. Scary? No.
