Phantom of the Opera

Phantom of the Opera

A stunningly beautiful retelling of the classic Phantom of the Opera story in a graphic novel format.

Most people know the plot. A horribly disfigured man helps a young women become a famous opera singer from behind the scenes. Is he a ghost? A madman? Or just in love with the beautiful Christine?

The artwork is the star here. Amazingly bright colors pop from the pages on my iPad showing the world above. And the world below is depicted in ghoulish yellows and greens.

The story is in the words of the original author, Gaston Leroux. What’s interesting is the plot diverges significantly from the movie versions. I, personally, liked the movie version better. However, it was entertaining to read the original too.

Overall, the Phantom of the Opera is recommended for fans of the story or gothic horror in general. 4 stars!

Thanks to A Wave Blue World, Diamond Book Distributors, and Edelweiss+ for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
