The Fix

Meh…Read any other book by this author first.

Amos Decker, the Memory Man, witnesses a man killing a woman and then himself in front of the FBI Washington DC headquarters. There is no question of whodunnit but Amos and his team are tasked with finding out why the crime was committed.

I was disappointed in this book. I may have had too high of expectations from this author. I really enjoyed the two previous entries in this series but this one was just meh. The first third was great but then the author moves from a mystery into a genre populated by my least favorite of Agatha Christie’s sleuths. In addition, the book felt over plotted with too many twists and turns. I love twisty thrillers but by the end their were so many red herrings that basically everyone but Amos could have been the killer’s motivation.

I can’t recommend this book but can recommend any other book by this author especially the first in this series, Memory Man, or the excellent Camel’s Club series.
