Involuntary Exit

Involumary Exit

Being fired from your job is a scary, frustrating and confusing experience. Involuntary Exit is an empowering guide to what to do next. It includes numerous examples of how the ultimate result can be better than if you stayed in the original position. It also includes suggestions on how to deal with the mental, social and physical ramifications of being unexpectedly unemployed.

Technically, I have only been fired once—in my first job. I have, however, been laid off and faux fired too. During the faux firing, I was warned to look for another job by my manager because her new boss “didn’t like me”. I stayed another year in an increasingly hostile work environment before taking a 20% pay cut just to leave quickly. My new job was in a completely new area. After three years, because of my new job’s tasks, I was promoted into my dream job that paid more than the job where I was faux fired. I could have saved myself a lot of heartache by leaving earlier as this book recommends.

Involuntary Exit is a great book to have on your bookcase because you never know when or if you will be fired (or faux fired). 4.5 stars!
